Anthem Insurance patients:

Effective November 1, 2017 TotalCare For Women, A Division of Mid-Atlantic Women’s Care, PLC, will no longer be In-Network providers with Anthem insurance plans.  This was a decision we did not take lightly. 

For over 2 years we have attempted to reach an agreement with Anthem of Virginia for a fair and balanced contract to continue as participating providers.  We consider it an honor and a privilege to provide exceptional compassionate care to our Anthem patients, but unfortunately, we can no longer do so under the terms offered by Anthem.

What does this mean for you?  It means you will continue to receive the high-quality personalized care we are known for, but Anthem’s policies may penalize you with higher coinsurance and/or deductibles.

What can you do?  Contact your Human Resources Department at your place of employment and ask them what other health plans are offered.  Call the number on the back of your insurance card to verify whether your plan includes Out-of-Network benefits.

If you are currently one of our obstetric patients and are 13 weeks or more pregnant, you can continue to receive prenatal care from TotalCare For Women at your full Anthem In-Network benefits through your delivery and post-partum visit. 

We sincerely regret the inconvenience and disruption you may experience, but we feel strongly that we cannot compromise our principles in seeking a fair agreement with Anthem.  Our staff will be available to answer our Anthem patient’s questions regarding continuing care as an out-of-network provider.

All copayments are due and must be paid at the time services are rendered. Patients not covered by a Healthcare Insurance Plan accepted by TotalCare for Women must make arrangements with our billing department prior to being seen.

All visits are by appointment only. In fairness to the patients who have scheduled appointments and are waiting to be seen, WE DO NOT ACCEPT WALK-INS.

If you wish to schedule a routine appointment such as an annual exam, please call our office at least 3 weeks in advance. Same-day and next-day appointments are reserved for emergencies and acute problems.
